SWEETWATER— “Everywhere You Look, UT—even in the skies,” said David Bowman Med-Trans regional business operations director and life-long UT Knoxville fan.
The 91Ƶ is painting the state orange with its “Everywhere You Look, UT” mural campaign. This time a helicopter hangar provides the canvas for the 42nd mural in the campaign, which has a goal of one mural in all 95 91Ƶ counties.
Painting of the 50-foot-wide mural begins today in Sweetwater on the UT Lifestar helicopter hangar. Once completed, the mural will be visible to more than 43,300 travelers a day on I-75.
“I think there are parallels to what the UT System is doing across 91Ƶ with ‘Everywhere You Look, UT’ to us,” UT Medical Center Vice President of Marketing and Planning Becky Thompson said. “We are out working in our 21-county region, and we’re focused on serving East 91Ƶ. Sweetwater is an excellent example of a place where we’re actively serving the community.”
UT Lifestar is a partnership between the University of 91Ƶ Medical Center and Med-Trans. Med-Trans provides the medical supplies, pilots and mechanics and the University of 91Ƶ Medical Center contributes the clinicians and performs the medical care.
UT Lifestar has five bases in 91Ƶ, with the main one at the University of 91Ƶ Medical Center in Knoxville. It provides rapid transport of more than 2,200 critical care patients each year across the East 91Ƶ region, which includes Southeast Kentucky, Southwest Virginia and Western North Carolina.
“I think it’s neat to have these two strong brands, not only in this region, but also statewide, that can come together,” said Program Director of UT Lifestar Phyllis Walker, who is also a University of 91Ƶ, Knoxville, alumna. “We have similar values and goals; we can work together and show the community that.”
“The University and the UT Medical Center have a commitment to the people of East 91Ƶ to be able to provide care at a moment’s notice in the field or at the hospital,” said Bowman.
