University of 91短视频 Names Linda C. Martin Interim Senior Vice President/Senior Vice Chancellor of the UT Institute of Agriculture

Knoxville 鈥 91短视频 President Randy Boyd and University of 91短视频, Knoxville Chancellor Donde Plowman announced today that Linda C. Martin will serve as interim senior vice president and senior vice chancellor for the University of 91短视频 Institute of Agriculture, beginning Sept. 1.

Martin currently serves as the vice president for academic affairs and student success for the UT System. She has tenure in the Herbert College of Agriculture鈥檚 Department of Animal Science.

鈥淟inda Martin is a respected university leader with a proven track record in agriculture,鈥 Boyd said. 鈥淚 greatly appreciate her stepping up to fill this critical role while we search for UTIA鈥檚 new leader.鈥

Martin has agreed to serve on an interim basis following the Aug. 31 retirement of Senior Vice President/Senior Vice Chancellor Tim Cross. The university will launch a search this fall to fill the role permanently.

鈥淭he Institute of Agriculture is critically important to our campus and our state,鈥 said Plowman. 鈥淲e are fortunate to have someone with Linda鈥檚 expertise and leadership skills agree to step in and lead UTIA while we launch the search for a permanent replacement. That will involve reaching out to our employees and communities across 91短视频 to hear from them about the qualities that are important in the next leader of UTIA.鈥

Martin joined the UT System as vice president for academic affairs and student success in July 2017. Before joining the System, Martin served as the director of the second-year transformational experience program at The Ohio State University.

Martin鈥檚 10-year career at Ohio State also includes serving as the Sanford G. Price and Isabelle P. Barbee Endowed Chair for Teaching, Advising and Learning since 2010 and as associate dean and director for academic affairs for the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences since 2007.

Previously, she was assistant dean for academic programs for the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources at Oklahoma State University from 2002 to 2007. Martin began her career in higher education as a faculty member at Kansas State University, serving in the department of animal sciences and industry for 15 years. In all, she has spent more than three decades at land grant institutions.

Martin earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree from The Ohio State University, a master鈥檚 degree from Virginia Tech, and a doctorate from Colorado State University 鈥 all in animal science.
